Where do I find firmware and software updates for Honeywell paperless recorders?

A customer contacted me earlier today after reading another blog post about running Honeywell TrendManager software on a Windows 7 computer. She was looking for a copy of the latest software compatible with her recorders and operating system. But because Honeywell is a large company with several different divisions and websites, it can sometimes be difficult for customers to find the downloads they need.

So here’s the quick fix:

What’s the Backdoor Password for Honeywell X-Series Paperless Recorders?

Honeywell Minitrend QX X-Series Paperless RecorderOne of the strengths of Honeywell’s X-series paperless recorders is password security. You can configure it to keep operators from making configuration changes, and it’s a necessary part of being able to view a recorder’s data using a web browser.

One of the weaknesses of Honeywell’s X-series paperless recorders is password security. And by that, I don’t mean it’s bad. I just mean it can cause problems if a user fails to enter their username and password right, and ends up locked out of the recorder.

How to get a USB barcode scanner to read into a Honeywell paperless recorder

This is the error message I got when I tried using a USB barcode scanner with my Honeywell Trendview X-Series paperless recorderEarlier this week, I was working with one of our Honeywell Trendview X-series paperless recorders. The X-Series is capable of accepting data input from a USB barcode scanner — typically used for batch identification or for user name logins — but mine wasn’t working right.

When I tried to scan a barcode, I got an error message, and it stumped me. Luckily, I figured it out in a few minutes.
