Do you need to send an instrument to the factory for repair or service? Before you disconnect it, pack it up, and ship it out, be sure you do the following:

1. Make a backup or copy of your instrument configuration, so you can quickly reinstate the settings.
2. Make sure you have a written record of your settings on file. Several manufacturers include a configuration worksheet in the instrument user manual. If it’s not there, you can write them on a copy of the quick-start or setup installation guide.
