Having fun with a cellular modem

A wired bench sample of the Phoenix Contact cellular modem kitI just got my hands on a cellular modem that can stream analog data from a remote site to a SCADA/HMI/PLC/DCS/PAC, send a text message or an email on alarm, or receive a text message that can control a relay output (yes, it’s all secure ! !).

Just imagine all the sites where you know your cell phone works, but where getting wired or conventional wireless access (read that as a ‘tower for the antenna’) for data collection is well nigh impossible, like construction sites, remote pump stations, or mobile vehicles within a plant.

I’ll pass along what I’ve learned to those of you who sign up for the webinar coming up August 30th.
